The great depression started on October 29, 1941. It was the downfall of America for almost 15 years. It was one of the toughest times if not the toughest time for America's economy. 

People lost their jobs and were broke with no where to go. Kids even quit school to work to try and help their parents out. Some parents couldn't afford their kids anymore so they sent them on orphan trains to live a better life.

People needed a lot of help to get back on their feet. That is when President Franklin D. Roosevelt stepped into office and signed the New Deal. He was able to back the banks again so new jobs were created! People were also provided benefits and insurance to make sure something like this never happened again!

The Great Depression lasted for 12 years and came to an end in 1941. It had a lasting effect for awhile but America came out if stronger and more united!
