lay her eggs on a tree in the forest. Some of the forest
creatures saw her laying her eggs and wondered what she was
doing. She explained that she had to find a leaf that she felt
was safe for her eggs because one day soon they would hatch
and her babies would be born.

These babies looked nothing like Mama butterfly. The forest
creatures came to speak to the tiny worm. They could tell she
was very scared.

were. Andy Ant explained that they were in the forest and this
was their home. Some of them lived in trees, some in holes in
ground, and others lived in homes they built with their families.
The little worm then asked where she would live. Lena Ladybug
told her that she lives in a tree and she could live with her if
she wanted.

little wormed said her name was Flutter. All of the forest
creatures were puzzled by this name because they could not
understand why her name would be Flutter. She had no wings.

her name was Flutter if she had no wings. Flutter explained that she
did not know that her Mama named her that and she thought it was
pretty. Bert Bee suggested they go find Flutter's Mama to ask her.
Everyone thought this was a great idea! Off they went on their
adventure!

thought maybe she would like a leaf. They crawled onto
the nearest tree and the two friends began to share a leaf
while their other friends went out to find their favorite meal.

Flutter started to get tired and scared. The forest
creatures decided it would be better to let Flutter go to
sleep for awhile. It had been a long day for her.

sleep that night. Lena Ladybug and Flutter slept on a
tree branch covered with a leaf, Andy Ant slept in a
hole he found in the ground, Bert Bee slept in a hole in
the tree, Dana Dragonfly slept on a flower petal, Lyle
Lizard slept under a rock at the bottom of the tree, Gus
Grasshopper stayed awake and played music until they
all fell asleep. It was a nice night but Flutter had trouble
sleeping. She wondered why her Mama did name her
Flutter.

could not find Flutter. They all began looking for her.
As they were looking they did find something strange
hanging from a nearby tree that had not been there the
day before. Lena Ladybug told the other creatures that
she thought this was Flutter in her cocoon or chrysalis. She did
not want to leave her. They all agreed to stay until
they knew Flutter was okay.
