A book about friendship, kindness, and courage.

Bob is a robot with everything made of iron.
He lives inside a school full of normal children.
He never blends into this environment,
because of his skin that is made of iron.

Children like to have fun at any time they want.
When it's sunny, they run.
When it's windy, they run.
When it's rainy, they also run.

But Bob the robot can not do whatever he wants
His legs are made of iron, all heavy and hard.
He moves slowly, and he can not run.
He is afraid of water, and he can only play under the sun.

On rainy days, Bob always stays under the roof.
When other kids play and jump into the puddles,
all he can do is only watch because he’s not waterproof.
On windy days, Bob always hides behind the walls.
When other kids fly a kite and run in the gentle touch of wind,
all he can do is only watch because he can not hold the kite at all.

On sunny days, Bob always stays inside the shadow.
When other kids giggle and chase each other,
all he can do is only watch because he moves too slow.

The worst thing Bob hates the most though,
is when the children hug each other with their faces aglow,
all he can do is only watch behind the windows,
whispering,

“See you tomorrow.”

Bob’s life has always been the same, every day,
until a new girl, in the blue shoe, joins the school one day.

Her right leg is made of iron, she can not run fast, and she can not play in rain.
She is just like Bob the robot in some ways.

But she is also so different, and the difference makes Bob so confused.
Her skin is warm and soft and looks the same as the other kids’.
Attention to the new girl, Bob secretly pays,
since he could not figure this out any other way.
He sees the girl in the blue shoe and the other kids at play,
and feels that the distance between them is not as far away.
He thinks, “Maybe I should join them one day when they play.”

When it rains again one day, Bob stays under the roof as always.
He used to stay only with himself, but this time there is someone else.

The new girl in the blue shoe sits beside him,
three meters away,

two meters away,

then one meter away.
