HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Dear Journal,

You are my most favorite present.

Writing’s my hobby and I find it quite pleasant.

I will fill you with quotes, poems, and stories.

With a pen in my hand, I will write down my worries.

And with every page share all of my glories.

Dear Journal,

Sometimes, I wonder if I am who I am.

Am I really me, or am I just a sham?

I know that sounds a little strange.

But why stay the same when I can change?

Dear Journal, 

I wonder if I am who they say.

On the first of May, I just want to play.

So please, can I have it my way?

Just for a moment, just for today?

Ride my bike with the wind in my hair.

Jump high off the swing, if only I dare.

Laugh with friends 'til we run out of air.

Spinning in circles without a care.

Dear Journal, 

I want to embark on an adventure.

New horizons becoming my new venture.

 Sometimes, I wonder if this is where I am meant to be,

Or am I like a caged bird that wants to be free?

Dear Journal, 

I wonder if others feel the same way I do.

Looking, and searching for something that’s new.

Perhaps, they are wandering too. 

Sailing the oceans in search of a clue.

Going to great measures,

While searching for treasures.

Dear Journal, 

Let us journey through the Amazon.

Live out the pictures I have drawn.

"Mom, I won't be gone too long."

"I’ll be home before dawn."

Let us hike the highest mountain.

And drink from a chocolate fountain

Tame a wild cat on Monday.

Burn marshmallows by the bay.
