Happy Birthday!

I open my eyes as I strech my hands. It's a special day, it's my birthday today! We are going to have so much fun! By the way, my name is Violet. The town has been saying that they will surprise me, and I have no clue how. Well, I will find THAT out, today! I smell birthday cake from the kitchen. I put on my slippers and go to the bathroom. I brush my teeth, and I look at my reflection. I look horrible. My hair is all scrambled, and, that shirt... horrible. I brush my hair and put it into a ponytail on the side, and I change into a Jean skirt, a T-Shirt, and I put a Jean Jacket on the top. That's the comfy style I like, not dresses or anything. I walk into the kitchen, delighted with the smell of cake. 

"Happy Birthday Dear!" My mom exclaims. I look at her up to down. Her clothes are a mess! "Mom," I reply, "Look at you! You are like, the messiest person in this whole town!" She laughs and points at the cake in the oven. Then I realize she got messy, cooking. Victor walks into the kitchen. My dad follows him, footsteps behind. "Happy Birthday!" They both say, hugging me. Victor is three years older than me, which means that he is 13. I am turning 10 today. It's June 9th. A ding ding ding! sound comes from the oven. My mom takes the cake out of the oven. As she starts to frost it. I go outside to greet my friends close by. As I walk to my cousin Sarah's house, everyone greets me, saying Happy Birthday! Sarah and Savannah are the BEST cousins anyone could ever have. 

I step inside their house. Sarah, the 9-year-old smart cookie, gives me a big hug as she told me a fact about birthdays: The most popular birthday month is August, and 9% of the world's population is born then. Savannah, the 4-year-old, gives me a picture she drew. I go inside and greet my aunt and give her an invite to my birthday. Here is what the card looks like:

My aunt gives me a hug, and I walk away. When I step outside of the house, a big van stops me in my tracks. "What could a van be doing in a town as small as this?" I thought, so I decided to wait and watch.

I put my sunglasses on, so no one in the van knows that I am watching the people inside. The van door slowly opens, and I see a wealthy man stepping out. He is wearing a suit, black pants, and black, polished shoes. He opens the van door to the left side of the van, and a lady steps out this time. She looks really pretty! She is wearing a pink floral dress, high heels, and TONS of makeup. Suddenly, the back doors, both of them, open. Two armed bodyguards step out, and a kid - a girl about my age- steps out from the left side.

A Surprise

The lady slowly looks down at me and asks, "Hon, do you know where this house is?" I see the picture she shows me. It's the house next to mine! That's why it said FOR SALE the past few weeks! I take my sunglasses off and quietly reply "Yes ma'am. That is the house next to mine. I can lead you there if you'd like." She calls out, "Robert! This child knows where our house is! She says she can lead us there too." Robert, apparently, was the rich man who first stepped out of the van, and also was her husband. Then, that meant - maybe, just maybe, that girl was their daughter! Mr. Robert then tells his two assistants to drive the van to their new house and carries the girl on his shoulders. He starts to follow me.

I lead the family to their new home while they introduce themselves. The couple introduce themselves as Mr. and Mrs. Williams. I look at the girl, waiting for her to introduce herself. She slowly looks at me and says, "My-My name is Sherly. I am not that used to making friends. Sorry if I am not being so friendly." I stare at her in disbelief. As we go inside Sherly's new home, I gasp as I see the town mayor, standing right in the middle of the house! The grown-ups greet each other. I ask, " Can Sherly come to my house to play? It's the house next door." Mrs. Williams nods and gives a little present box to me. "Honey, can you take this to Violet Bell? Someone told me it's her birthday and Sherly bought this for her. Also, what's 

your name, sweet pie?" Mrs. Williams asks. "My name is Violet Bell!" Mr. and Mrs. Williams gasp. "We've heard so much nice things about you! Sherly has been very excited to meet you! You two will be best friends!" Mrs. Williams says. I grab onto Sherly's arm, and we laugh and run to my house.

We both rush inside my house, and Chocolate, my beagle, greets us. Chocolate licks me all over my face! Yuck! Choco circles around Sherly and sniffs her palm. Then she licks her all over her face, just like she did to me! "Well," I say, laughing," I guess you're Choco approved!" She laughs as I take her to my room. "Whoa! It's so pretty!" She gasps. Yes, indeed it is. The floor is see-through plastic, and under it, there is water with fish inside! The walls are painted blue, and there are mermaid stickers on it. My bed is a loft bed. Pretty much, everything is blue! We both plop on my bed and I take out my I-pad to play some games and pass some time.

A New Guest

Time passes quickly, and I only realize my birthday party is happening this afternoon! I quickly go check the time on my clock. 2:30! I run to the living room. Sherly runs after me. "What's up?" she asks. "I'm having a party today... I didn't get anything ready!" I reply, panting. I look on the counter and see all of the food, mom is just finishing up the pizza. I point to a table in the corner. "Can you help me lift it?" I ask Sherly. "Sure!" she says. We lift the table together and put in the middle of the dining room. Victor walks into the room. "Hi! Can you help us get ready for the party?" I ask him. "Sure!'' he says. I ask him to hang the streamers on the wall. Me and Sherly blow up the balloons and make an arch. We put it near the doorway. Then, we put all of the food on the table. 

Sherly says, "I've got to go. Have fun in your party!" Before she walks out the door. I hand her an invite to my party. "Here. You're invited too!" I say. Sherly gasps and hugs me. She walks out the door, staring at the invite in disbelief.

As I wake up from my short nap, I hear the doorbell ringing. I jump off my bed, pop a piece of gum in my mouth, and open the door to find Sarah and Savannah, my aunt and my uncle. "Surprise! Here's your gift." Sarah says. I check the time on the clock. It's 3:20, so my cousins are early. I lead my uncle to the sofa, where my dad and brother are watching football. My aunt joins my mom in the kitchen, and Savannah sits next to Victor. I put my new present next to the one Sherly gave me earlier today. Sarah goes to my room and pulls out her I-pad to play some games. The doorbell rings again, and this time, it's Brianna. I give her a big hug, and let her in. I step outside, onto the porch, and look for Sherly. Nope. She's not there. I sight and go back in.

Party Time!

" Surprise!" A voice says from behind. "Aaah!" I scream and jump around to find - Sherly! I run towards her and fling myself into her wide, open arms. I quicly introduce her to Brianna, Sarah, and Savannah. "Party Time!" Victor shouts. I laugh and hand out sheets of paper to each of my friends, explaining the rules. "First, we're going to play in the community pool! After, we watch some tv and play musical chairs. Then, we eat some food and cut the cake. Is everyone clear?" I ask. Everyone nods their heads yes. "Then what are you waiting for? The last one to the pool is a rotten egg! The first one there eats it!" I say, excited. 

Meanwhile...

"Mother, apparently there is a new rich kid in town. Her name is Sherly and lives next to... VIOLET???!!! I HAVE to go and see her!" I say in disbelief and shock. "Victoria, you know you are free to go to the town but be back before dusk." My mom says, half aware of her surroundings. She is reading a news article on her I-phone. I grab my I-phone, dab some lipstick on, and walk out the door. I live in a mansion next to the town where Sherly, my new best friend, lives. I check her status on Facebook. She has over a million dollars in the bank, and ding! She posted a new picture. I click on it and... she is in the community pool with Violet! She's supposed to be MY best friend! UGHH! I run to the pool in shock. I tell Mandy to drive my car there too.

Back at the pool...

I hear footsteps approaching, and fast! I get out of the pool to see what's happening. I see- Victoria! "Hi Victoria! DO you wanna join my pool-" She cuts my sentence, saying, "Sherly, Violet will try and trick you out of your money! Don't believe her! Be friends with me instead! I live on the big blue house next to this town! It's gonna be fun!" "Sherly, Victoria is a monster! She wants to cut off your friendship with Violet! Don't listen to her!" Sarah comes to back me up. Before Sherly can say anything, Victoria grabs Sherly from the pool, puts her in a car nearby, and drives away. I fall to the ground and start to cry. Sarah calls her mom at the toddler pool.
