This is Kyle. He is 6 years old and lives in a small town in Texas. Kyle has 2 older brothers and a younger sister. 

Even though Kyle is only 6 years old, he turns 7 today. Today is his birthday. Because it's his birthday, his older brother Eric made him a cake. 

When Kyle's family was gathered to celebrate him, they sang happy birthday. Eric brought the cake out as they began. 

Before his family started to sing, Eric stopped everyone. He said, "Wait, we can't do this. When there are candles on the cake and we blow them out, we put our germs on the cake. Then, when we eat the cake, everyone will be eating Kyle's germs." Kyle nodded in agreement with Eric's statement. 

All of Kyle and Eric's family were surprised with how grown up Eric sounded. The rest of the family agreed with him. 

Kyle asked,"So what should we do instead?" His mom took the candles off the cake and said, "We can just sing happy birthday and then you can make a wish on a separate candle."

Kyle liked this idea. 

His family sang happy birthday to him, and when he would usually blow out the candles on the cake, he just blew out a separate one. 

After this, it was time to for Kyle's dad to cut the cake. As he reached for the knife, Kyle stopped him. He told his dad, "If you're going to cut the cake, you need to make sure your hands are clean." His dad replied, "Yes Kyle, that's right!"
