Introduction
As you know, there are the 8 planets. Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune or My Very Energetic Mother Served Us Nachos. Though something you might not know is that these 8 planets go into 2 different groups. The Inner Planets, and the Outer Planets. The Inner Planets group is made up of Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. The Outer Planets group is made up of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. But what makes the Outer Planets, Outer Planets and what makes the Inner Planets, Inner Planets?
Inner Planets and Outer Planets
Inner Planets are terrestrial or earth-like, they have few or no moons, they are made up of rocky outer cores and heavy metals, shorter orbits, closest to the sun, relatively small, and closer to each other.
Outer Planets are Jovian Planets and or Gas Giants, farther apart from each other, can have rings, long orbits, have many moons, farthest from the sun, and relatively big.
Mercury
Mercury is a Inner Planet. Mercury has a very thin atmosphere, its burning throughout the day and freezing during the day which makes Mercury uninhabitable, meaning it can't support life. Mercury is the smallest planet in our entire solar system. It does have the shortest orbit around the Sun due to the fact that it is the closest. Even though Mercury is the closest planet, it is not the hottest. Which brings me to its next door neighbor, Venus.

Venus
Venus is an Inner Planet. Venus is Earth's sister planet. Venus has similar size and mass as Earth. However, it is much hotter. In fact, Venus is the hottest planet out of all the planets in our solar system. Why is it hotter than Mercury? Venus's thick atmosphere traps greenhouse gases making all the heat on Venus stuck in its atmosphere forever. Venus does have the second shortest orbit around the Sun. It sadly can't support life (due to the heat), but Earth can.
Mercury
Venus is an Inner Planet. Venus is the hottest planet because of its atmosphere, green house gases stay in Venus and cant get out. Making the climate very hot and uninhabitable. It does not have the shortest orbit, but it has the second shortest and is the second closest to the Sun. Venus is Earth's "sister planet" due to the fact that they both have similar density and size. Which brings me to its next door neighbor, Earth.

Earth
Earth is an Inner Planet. It is our home planet. Earth is the only planet that is habitable, or able to support life known. Why? Earth's atmosphere protects itself from too much radiation, creating the perfect temperature for life. Earth also contains water and oxygen which is also needed to support life. Earth is also the only Inner Planet that has a moon. Earth is the third closest planet to the Sun. Earth is 2/3 or 66.66% water. Yet Earth, does not have a canyon as large as Mars.

Mars
The last Inner Planet is Mars. Mars is known as the red planet because its dirt looks like rusty iron. It is the fourth planet closest to the Sun. Mars has an active volcano called Olympus Mons. Mars also has the largest canyon in our solar system, sorry Grand Canyon, Arizona. Mars is also the second smallest planet in our entire solar system but, right next door to Mars we have the largest planet in our entire solar system, Jupiter.

Jupiter
The first Outer Planet is Jupiter. Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system. It is known for its size and its great red spot. The red spot is actually an active storm on Jupiter. Jupiter is the fifth planet closest to the Sun. It is uninhabitable because of its atmosphere and its gassy core. Jupiter has 79 moons, 26 of which are awaiting for official names. Jupiter has invisible rings, but right next door to Jupiter is the "lord of the rings", Saturn.
