"Doomsday has failed me. I need you, Steppenwolf, to destroy the spies or else I may never come back. I can't send my strongest men: Dark Stealer of Dreams, Nightmare, Shadow and Drainer of Power, because there will be a large risk. Now, Steppenwolf, go finish off the spies for me," commanded Darkseid using the speaker gem. Steppenwolf walked out of the blazing hot volcano covered in ash and lava towards the spies' base.

Spies base

"You know the amulets we were protecting?" asked Harry.

"Yeah. So what about it?" replied Neo.

"They were metamorphosing into some kind of box," said Harry,

"That's why the legend says that they turn into the Decacube," exclaimed Neo. 

The spies were walking out the door now. "Harry's squad, stay here if Steppenwolf comes," commanded Neo.

"Who's Steppenwolf?" asked Julian.

"No time to explain," replied Neo.

Steppenwolf came in front of the spies' base. "Fools," said Steppenwolf and leaped right in front of the spies' base. 

"Who are you?" asked Luca.

"Steppenwolf." 

Luca immediately flew up into the air and threw a bomb at him.

Steppenwolf dodged the attack and hit Luca with his axe. Zane jumped up and shot ice shards at Steppenwolf. The ice shards sunk into Steppenwolf's armour as blood rushed down. 

Steppenwolf released his axe as all the ice shards fell on the ground. Steppenwolf grabbed Zane and threw him at Luca. Julian immediately threw a knife at Steppenwolf that went right into his head. Steppenwolf reached for the knife and pulled it off. Zane froze Steppenwolf in place as he threw the knife back at Julian. Chris jumped into action. Chris lifted up Steppenwolf and threw him at the base. Steppenwolf crashed through the base as Chris used super strength punch on Steppenwolf's face. Steppenwolf hit Chris and he flew out of the base. 

When Steppenwolf got back up, Chris smashed a gigantic piece of metal on his head. Steppenwolf grabbed Chris up and smashed him into the ground. Kai sprayed lava at Steppenwolf. The lava was so hot it melted his armour. Chris, Zane and Julian were throwing giant rocks at Steppenwolf's head. Steppenwolf grabbed his axe and threw it at Zane. Luca grabbed the axe in mid air and gave it to Chris. Christ then jumped up and swung the axe at Steppenwolf. The axe hit Steppenwolf on the head and cracked open his helmet. 

Steppenwolf grabbed the axe and threw Christ off him and escaped. 

When the spies got back they were both happy and disappointed.

"You guys did good on protecting the base, but we think that you should have killed Steppenwolf," said Harry disappointedly. 

"You have failed me, Steppenwolf," shouted Darkseid angrily. "You swore to me that you will kill them."

"I did but I just lost," explained Steppenwolf.

"I expect you to do better," said Darkseid. "Wait until the ring of fire, when 450 volcanoes explode. You will be at your full power. You know, Steppenwolf, you always have the power to explode when it's the ring of fire season but I never told you." Steppenwolf walked out of the fiery ashes as the lava bobbed up and down in the distance, at the top of the flaming hot volcano.

Spies friend's house

Steppenwolf crashed through the roof of the tallest apartment in the busy streets of Milwaukee, flooded with a sea of angry businessmen.

"Where are the amulets?" asked Steppenwolf angrily. The spies friend, Langdon, walked to the basement door, went down the stairs, opened a box, walked to a door, inserted a key that he found inside the box, entered the numbers 459, walked through the tunnel, opened a chest, inserted another key into another door, entered the numbers 3808 and gave Steppenwolf the amulet of water. Steppenwolf studied the amulet carefully and realised it was a fake. "How dare you trick me," screamed Steppenwolf at Langdon.
