This is Marty, Marty is an elm tree.
He is unhappy being a tree. All of his friends can fly or crawl or run and play, but he cannot do any of that.

One day Marty's friend Robin flies by. Robin is a butterfly. She sees that Marty is upset.

What is wrong Marty?
I wish I could fly like you, Robin.

Flying is not as cool as you think, sometimes the wind is too hard for me to fly. When that happens I cannot go anywhere and that makes me sad.
Marty thought Robin could always fly, he did not know that the wind affected flying.
Later Marty's friend Carl the hawk came to see him.

Hi Marty!
Hi Carl.

Sometimes I don't like being a tree. I cannot do anything.
Why the long face Marty?

At least no one is scared of you. When I come around all the insects go running. They think I'm going to eat them.
This shocked Marty, he had never thought of Carl as a predator.
