To My Students -
Thank you for trying this project with me!

"Star light, star bright, the first star I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might, get the wish I wish tonight."
This was the poem I'd say every night as a little girl when I looked up at the Northeastern Pennsylvania night sky. My wishes were for my family and more toys. I have always loved the stars and learning about space. It wasn't until I was much older that I learned why studying and exploring space is so important. Here's what I learned!
#5 Reason To Support Space Exploration
Do you like watching football games on TV? You can thank space scientists for developing those cool camera angles. They were developed from technology used on Mars probes.

Reason #4 To Support Space Exploration
Have you ever made a bottle for a baby? You can thank space scientists for making the baby formula healthier. They discovered that some foods developed for astronauts can help us here on earth, including an Omega 3 fatty acid that helps with brain development.

#3 Reason To Support Space Exploration
Have you ever had a broken bone and had an x-ray? Well, technology from space science makes digital x-rays possible. Digital x-rays are safer than regular x-rays due to less radiation and they take better images.

#2 Reason To Support Funding Space Exploration
My dad got really sick a few years ago. It was very scary. I was grateful to the doctors and nurses for their care. Then I learned I also have to thank space scientists because heart surgery technology comes from space research!

#1 Reason To Support Funding Space Exploration
Who doesn't like being in touch with their family and friends? Who doesn't like playing fun games?
Cell phones are possible partly due to satellite technology! So next time you pick up your phone, thank scientists and and astronauts!

Since it costs $100,000,000 per seat to get someone to the International Space Station, some people say space exploration is too expensive. They believe we should use that money here on earth to fund things such as schools and homeless shelters.

I see what people are saying, but look at all of the amazing inventions from space travel that have helped billions of people around the world. I think there is a way we can find funding for space and Earth. Maybe one solution is to ask businesses to help with space exploration.

It is so important for us to always be curious and to want to learn more. How amazing that a dream of walking on the moon has helped so many people here on Earth.
Learn more about space exploration and support these amazing scientists and astronauts! Let's continue to make our world a better place by exploring the universe!
Follow @nasa for super cool information. Maybe I'll see you in space one day discovering new planets!
