Ruby bridges was born september 8, 1954 in Tylertown, Mississsippi. She was the oldest of 3 and was raised by her mother and father.

Ruby was just 6 years old when she attened the all white school William Frantz elementary during the new orleans school desegregation crisis on november 14 , 1960.

Ruby fought for racial equality and she established the Ruby Bridges foundation to promote tolerence and create change through education. This was so important to Ruby because she faced rasicm everyday and she was only a child.
