Learning with Technology

None of my teachers ever used technology in their lesson plans. When I first started this class, I did not think much about actually using what I learned in the classroom. However, after being in the class and learning about all of the different things that can be done through technology, I have completely changed my mind. I think that technology brings new ways for students to challenge themselves and use their imagination. For example, the resource that I am using to create this final reflection would encourage students to think out of the box.

                     Productivity Tools

In this module we learned about all the different tools that Google provides. Before this module I did not know how helpful Google can be in the classroom. For example, Instead of having to download a PowerPoint to a USB drive or emailing it to yourself you can create a Google Slide and pull it up from any computer.

                    Digital Organization 

I think that organization is something that should be important to a teacher. In this module we learned how to organize things using technology. Many people do not consider organizing their things online as an important task including me before this module. After completing this module, I saw how organization through technology can be beneficial for teachers. Not only would this type of organization be good to keep up with lesson plans and worksheet but also for the teacher’s personal resume.

                     Digital Citizenship

I think that requiring students to have a digital citizenship before using the computer at school would be a great way for students to gain awareness. I would have never thought about requiring my students to have a digital citizenship if it were not for this module. However, after completing this module it was brought to my attention how important these things are to have in the classroom.

           Online Saftey and Cyberbullying 

I was familiar with online bullying before this module. However, I was unaware of the online games that students can play to gain important information about online bullying. I think that having a center on online bullying would be a great way to spread awareness. Many students come into the classroom being completely unaware of the effects that online bullying causes. Having online games teaching the importance of being kind online can really make a difference.

                      Audio and Video

Audio and video can be extremely helpful in the classroom. Especially when the teacher is absent and a substitute is present. A teacher can record themselves teaching or create an audio going over directions for a project. Through this module I learned about some great online websites and apps that are great tools for this. Before this module I knew that these things would come in handy but I did not know where to find the resources that are required to do it.  

                          Assessment

Assessing students is a big part of education. It is hard to teach students what they need to know when a teacher does not know where they stand. In this module we learned how to assess students through technology. I found this module very helpful. I think that students enjoy online assessments more than other options.

                      Adaptive Learning 

Adaptive learning is great for online students. Before this module I was introduced to adaptive learning my first semester of college. I enjoyed it for the most part and after completing the task in this module for adaptive learning I could definitely see how it would benefit many students.
