Hi!
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Sarah the Seed.
One day, I want to grow big and strong!

But right now, I am small and round!
When I am buried in the ground, I will grow into a plant.
You may be wondering, how does this happen?

They begin as a seed, like me!
Later on, us seeds grow into an adult plant.

The plant cycle describes the stages the plant goes through!
It starts at the beginning of our life until the end.
Don't worry, it starts all over again!

The first stage of the plant cycle begins with me: Sarah the Seed!
I have a shield called the shell, just like a turtle!
It has everything needed to start a new plant.

Us seeds are spread in many ways!
Some of us are blown by the wind.
Sometimes, we float on water.
Even better, we can transport by birds, bees, other insects, or on the fur of animals!

We need four things to grow:
1. Air
2. Moisture
3. Sunlight
4. Warm temperature
When these four things happen, we will begin to sprout!

My roots push their way through my shell and begin growing into the soil.
Roots are the underground part of me that help me balance.
This growing process is called germination!
It is the second step of the plant cycle!

After germination, plants start growing!
I will poke my way out of the soil as a small, young plant called a seedling.
I am now Sophia the Seedling!
As a seedling, I get lots of food and water to grow through my roots.
