Mystie Monarch is bright and colorful.
She sips on nectar and basks in the sun.
Mystie Monarch is special and picky.
She needs a certain habitat or else she’s done.
Mystie Monarch is soaring and searching.
She lands on a flower and tries to have fun.

Mystie loves being with her friends.
They play tag in the air and take breaks to eat.
Mystie loves being in the sun.
They flap their wings, but they can’t take much heat.
Mystie loves to fly and explore.
They soar in the sky, but all they see is the street.

Everyday, more and more buildings appeared.
Mystie was worried, “what’s that all about?”
Everyday, more and more cement was poured.
Mystie was sad, so she watched with a pout.
Everyday, less and less monarchs were found.
“Where are my friends?”, she yells with a shout.
Mystie watched the humans build, and build.
“But we need these flowers!”, she said, but it didn’t stop.
Mystie felt the temperature rise, and rise.
“How can we survive in this heat?’ she said, but it didn’t drop.
Mystie saw the caterpillars getting hungrier, and hungrier.
“Their food is ruined.”, she said, as they polluted every crop.

Monarchs were missing, and they needed a change.
“I have to protect us” she said, as an idea started to grow.
Monarchs were hungry, and the humans were to blame.
She tried to distract them with her wings, so she put on a show.
Monarchs were in danger, and the humans didn’t care.
They watched her, but kept on their working flow.

Their home grew smaller and smaller.
She tried to protect the flowers, but they still cleared them out.
The buildings grew taller, and taller.
She tried to tell them to stop, and she continued to shout.
Their food was harder, and harder to find.
She tried to find milkweed, but the humans caused a drought

Something had to be done, the monarchs were going fast.
Mystie gathered the others, and tried to make a plan.
Something had to be done, they needed to stop the humans.
Mystie told them, “Be as pretty as you can!”
Something had to be done, maybe they could see their beauty.
Mystie and the others tried, but they were blown away by a fan.

Misty's friends were gone, and her family was shrinking.
“I guess this is the end.” she cried.
The flowers were gone, and the cement was growing.
“What else can we do!” she yelled, and started to hide.
Their habitat was gone, but the humans continued.
“We had fun while it lasted” she said, with her eyes wide.
