(PS. This story is not a reflection of my home life. I've never experienced anything like this, I just decided that it would be a good example of the effects of alcohol on a child's parents and how that affects the child.)

My name is Jacob. I have a Mommy and a Daddy. All my friends also have Mommies and Daddies.

But my Mommy and Daddy aren't like my friends Mommies and Daddies.

Every day when I come home from school, my Mommy doesn't hug me like other mommies do. She is too busy drinking. She doesn't notice me.

My Daddy never comes and makes me dinner. He comes home and yells at Mommy. Sometimes he hits her. Daddy is scary when he drinks.

My Mommy and Daddy never read me a story, or come and kiss me goodnight. Daddy and Mommy yell at me if I ask.

The more that Mommy and Daddy drink, the worse they get. I don't like this. I want to have a normal Mommy and Daddy, that love me! Just like the other kids!

One day, some people came to the house. They told me to pack my things, because I wouldn't have to live with my Mommy and Daddy anymore. They told me I could have a new Mommy and Daddy, ones that don't drink.

I was sad that Mommy and Daddy were going away, but I was happy that I could have a new family. I watched as my Mommy and Daddy got taken away by the Police.
