Once upon a time, there was a thoroughbred horse named Theona. This Thursday is her Thirteenth Birthday Party! This is what Theona expected her birthday party to look like... but something went wrong.

Theona woke up first thing in the morning!

"Today's the day of my thirteenth birthday party!" Theona thought.

Then she jumped out of bed and trotted to the bathroom.

Theona took a nice hot bubble bath. She always used a thermometer to make sure the temperature was just right. But lately, it hasn't been working right...

'Silly thing!' Theona thought. She hoped to get a new thermometer for her birthday present!

Theona used her new toothbrush to brush her teeth. Her dentist said she should brush her teeth for thirty seconds. Then she must gargle with mouthwash for another thirty seconds. He told her that it would help prevent toothaches.

Theona ate a bowl of thimbleberries, thumb print cookies, and a thin crust breakfast pizza!

On Thursdays, Theona and her brother Theo walked to the bus stop together. Theo was in 3rd grade. 

When Theona got to school, she put on her birthday hat!

Everyone wished her a happy 13th birthday. 

She always replied, "Thank you very much!" She was thankful for her thoughtful friends.

At lunch, Theona pulled out her thermos. Her mom packed her a delicious three bean soup. It was thick, creamy, and delicious!

Theona's birthday party was starting at 3pm. That gave everyone enough time to ride the bus home, gather their belongings, and walk to her house.

At 2:33, the bell rang. Theona ran to the bus. But on her way to the bus loop, she saw huge thunderclouds in the sky. 

"I hope the weather stays nice for my party.." she thought. 

But sadly, the weather was not on Theona's side.

When Theona got home, the thunderclouds got darker and a thick fog emerged. The sky was covered by them! There was no way her birthday party would be ruined. Nothing could stop her!

But sadly, the thunderstorm grew stronger and loud booms of thunder were heard all over town. Theona's Mom told her they had to cancel the party. 

Theona cried, "Why Mom?! We can still have my party, we just have to find a way to keep everything dry."

Let's go inside to think.

Theona and her mother put on their thinking caps. First they thought hard. Then they thought harder...

Then Theona knew EXACTLY what to do!

I know exactly what to do!

Theona's best friend Cynthia's mother owned the movie theater. They could move her birthday party there!

This will be perfect!

All of Theona's friends hopped in the car and headed north on the path to the movie theater. 

They played a thousand songs and sang louder than the thunder.
