To my little brother Ayden, always share and always be nice to everyone you see, no matter what.

It was a bright Monday morning when Cameron, Amauri, and Vernita all entered the school cafeteria for breakfast. Cameron went to go get his bagel and sat down at a table all by himself. Amauri and his sister, Vernita, sat together at their own table as well.

Amauri noticed that Cameron was the only person sitting alone in the cafeteria. He asked his sister," Why is that boy over there sitting all alone? Doesn't he have any friends?" Vernita looked over at Cameron and said," I don't know. Maybe we should go over there!" So the two of them travelled over to Cameron's table.

Vernita introduced herself and her little brother. "Hi, my name is Vernita and this is my little brother Amauri! I'm in the third grade and Amauri is in the first grade. What about you? What's your name?" Amauri and Vernita waited eagerly for a reply, but Cameron didn't answer.

Vernita thought that maybe Cameron didn't hear her, so she tapped his shoulder. Right when she did this, the bell rang, meaning it was time for class. Cameron looked up and told the two kids, "I'm sorry, I have to go now." Cameron quickly left the table and threw his bagel away. Amauri said to his sister, "I wonder why he didn't tell us his name. Do you think he thinks that we are scary?" Vernita answered with a sigh. "No he doesn't think we are scary, he is just a little shy. It is his first day, you know. Now come on, I have to walk you to class." And with that, Amauri and Vernita were off to class.

Cameron and Vernita both took Mrs. William's class together! Vernita thought that this was a wonderful surprise. She decided to sit beside Cameron in hopes of befriending him. Soon enough, class began to start, and Mrs. William said that there would be a partner project coming up. She told the class to start thinking about who they would like to work with. Vernita was very excited! She thought that this was a perfect time to get to know Cameron! Vernita looked at Cameron and smiled, but he only gave her a slight grin and looked down at his desk.
