Watching Quentin Tarantino films was like watching MCU to me. It is my own action pop corn flick film but a twist of curating classic spaghetti western, kung fu, nazi spy and exploitation films. I was in to his dialogues in his movies and also over stylized graphic violence and pour out of blood in its movies.
Meanwhile, another director that I loved was Martin Scorsese. Every time I watched his movies, I really find something new. I experienced new art form. His movies was kind of a novel for me . His protagonist in his films really caught my attention and perceive that I was the protagonist portray in the film.
Lastly, Stanley Kubrick. He was the modern artist that can be compare to the great Leonardo Da Vinci of painting ,or Lizst/Beethoven of classical music. All of his films was masterpieces and Clockwork orange was my favorite film ever. He was the philosopher of films to me.
Films saved me in this age of isolation and distancing. It gave me life. It completes the void left on my everyday lives. But somehow there are times, I feel saturation. Slowly, I experience diminished enthusiasm in films lately. Maybe of content saturation or repeating art form I see. I do not know
But there is something I am sure of. Through my sensory experiences, I learn knowledge that don't oversaturate watching films in just span of a day because film was an art form not just a content. It should be internalized in ourselves not just a consuming object. Through sensory experiences, I sense empiricism enters the game.
