Racism can bring many negative impacts to a country. Parents need to encourage the children to be nice to everyone in the country regardless of the person's race as it is their responsibility to maintain a harmonious country.
How can you teach your children to be responsible citizens in order to create a country that is free from racism? Here is some practical advice.
1. Introduce children to the multiracial and multicultural community in the country.

One day, Mr. Muthu was introduced the multiracial and multicultural community in Malaysia to his son, Parveen.

Mr. Muthu explored the multirace community in Malaysia to Praveen. He had introduced each of the races in Malaysia. "As a responsible Malaysian, we should be tolerance and respect each other among different races in the community in order to promote a harmonious country," said Mr. Muthu to Praveen.
Also, Mr. Muthu introduced Parveen to the song "Saya Anak Malaysia". Mr. Muthu wanted to cultivate Parveen as a responsible citizen. He hoped that the song can encourage Parveen to realize the importance of unity in different races to promote a peaceful society.

2. Encourage children to show kindness towards people in the community regardless of the person's race.

Daddy, I don't want to help the boy. He is not Chinese.
Mei Mei, let's comfort the boy and help him to clean the wound together.

Mr. Lim advised Mei Mei to help people in need. He encouraged Mei Mei to show kindness towards people regardless of race.
Mei Mei, as responsible citizens, we should contribute to the community. We need to show kindness towards everyone and help those people in need in the community. Although the boy is of a different race from us, we must lend a hand to him. Our community is a big family. We should love each other regardless of race.

Mei Mei listened to her father's advice. She went to comfort the boy, while her father went to get the first aid kit to help the boy clean up the wound.
Hi, what is your name? Do you feel hurt? Don't worry, my father and I will help you. Let's sit on the bench to wait for my father to come back. He is going to get the first aid kit for you.

Thank you.

You are welcome. It is our responsibility to show kindness towards everyone in the community.
Mei Mei understood the value of responsibility to be kind towards everyone in the community regardless of the person's race.
3. Show children racist ideas can hurt people.

One day, Puan Fadilah took her son, Azam, to play at the nearby park. They are many children of different races playing there. Suddenly, she noticed that Azam was unhappy.
What's wrong,
Azam?

Puan Fadilah noticed that Azam was having racist ideas. She decided to let Azam knows how racist ideas can hurt a person. She gave an example for Azam to think and felt the hurt.

Puan Fadilah's advice made Azam realized that his racist ideas are hurting other people's feelings.
Hmm... Yea. I feel uncomfortable when I imagine that I am excluded from the family. I feel sorry to say the words that hurt others just now.

Azam has realized that his way of thinking was hurting people's feelings. He has reflected on himself. Then, he decided to eliminate the racist ideas and play with other people of different races. Puan Fadilah was proud that Azam, a responsible citizen, has included everyone in the community.

Well done, Azam. You have recognized your mistake and corrected it.
