In the beginning of 1974, Grandpa was ten years old. Most of my memories that year are from the farm and from a 250 pound console TV. A Color TV, mind you! Big bird was yellow, Looney Tunes jumped off the screen with color. I watched the World Series with my mom, the Oakland A’s yellow uniform against the bright green grass. The Dodger blue, it was awesome.
Grandpa’s favorite sitcom started that year - Happy Days. I remember watching American Bandstand and game shows, Match Game and Tattletales. The whole family would gather around the TV after the cows were milked every evening, watching Carol Burnett, Laugh In, and of course every western my dad liked. It was a great time of my life.
This memory book was made more for me, than for my grandkids, but I hope they still enjoy it.

Evil Knievel was a famous stunt cycle driver. His stunt cycle toy was every boy’s desire to have. Wind it up and watch it crash, just like the real Evil Knievel.

April 8, 1974 Hank Aaron broke Babe Ruth’s home run record. Hank Aaron was one of grandpa’s favorite players. He played in Eau Claire and in Milwaukee.

Hot Wheels were fun to play with. Either Racing them on an orange race track or just smashing them against each other.

GI Joe with Kung Fu Grip. You couldn’t say GI Joe without saying Kung Fu grip. Just add a jeep or scuba diving equipment and an imagination.

What boy didn’t feel like Charlie Brown once in a while. Charlie also taught us to never give up. Keep your head up and keep on truckin.

Sugar
Ah, honey, honey
You are my candy girl
And you got me wanting you
Archie’s hit single on the Super Sugar Crisp Box. Sugar bear was the coolest bear on TV. Nothing could be sweeter.
