                                         Chapter 1

                                             Filisa

    Everyone was looking at me. My new teacher, Mrs. parker was fumbling with her microphone. Then she started talking "class we have a new student today, meet Filisa." 

        Everyone started whispering I looked at my shoes pretending that the little dolphins on the sides were swimming around in the ousen. I have just moved here from california, Florida is so different already! Filisa i'd like you to sit here said Mrs. parker. I looked at the girl sitting next to me. I gave a quick hello and wave, she just looked away. I felt kind of sad with that reaction but it left my mind when Mrs. parker started talking, "Today we will learn about fractions...

    When I got home that day my mom asked how was school. "Great" I lied. "Well I was thinking about spending the rest of the day at the beach!" Mom said excitedly. I answered sure because It sounded like a great Idea.

       The sand felt good on my feet nice and warm as I walked along the seashore. "I have a surprise for you," exclaimed my mom. she handed me a wrapped present shaped like an oval. I ripped open the package there right there was a big beautiful surfboard! Oh thank you mom I exclaimed as I ran toward the crashing waves. 

    As I got farther out in the ousen I got  the tiner shore got. I swam out in the big ousen blue until shore was just a big strip of sand in the water. Then I saw it a big dolphin swimming toward me. Oh wow Id never imagined I would see a dolphin. Then I saw something larger faster and stronger then the little dolphin, a big fishing ship! Aye shouted a squat fat man "A dolphin!, through the nets." about 25 nets came out of the ship I was wondering why they were throwing nets at the dolphin so I yelled " what are you doing!"

    Little girl that is none of your business replied a thin tall man. "But I want to know" I shouted! "Well if you must know we catch dolphins and skin them for there smooth skin and there fin." What I could not believe my ears this was a protected area for dolphins! These guys were breaking the law  I was mad now  these guys were criminals. Ahaha got it they shouted as they heaved the dolphin ashore. Ugggh this dolphin will not do. It is cut and bleeding put it back ordered the fat man as he tossed it overboard. My instincts kicked in I grabbed the dolphin and laid it on my surfboard as I paddled ashore.

    My mom saw me paddling and came to meet me. "Filisa what and the world!?" She needs help I puffed. While my mom was calling animal rescue for injured sea animals I checked the dolphin over. I thought the dolphin wasn't a good name so I decided to name her Flippers because she had big flippers. Animal rescue came a few minutes later. They told me to come with them. Why? I asked. "Well if you saw those guys I want to know what they look like," explained the lady. Ok I said as I followed her to the animal rescue van.

                                          Chapter 2

                            Flippers in Animal rescue

When I got to the rescue I reminded myself why I was there. I asked the lady where was Flippers. She said her name was Liz and that she would take me to see Flippers in a little while. She took me to a small room with a table and a chair. She plopped down on a pink flowery chair. "I want to know all about those men." I started talking all about the men what they looked like tall and thin and short and fat.

    "Ok I think I have enough info for today, Let's go see Flippers"Said Liz. I followed Liz to a big room with a little aquarium. There sat Flippers about to receive a shot from a nurse with curly hair. I heard Liz say "hi Becky is Flippers doing alright?" "I'm afraid not, she keeps on bleeding and I am pretty sure she has a infection." says nurse Becky worriedly. Filisa will you meet us tomorrow at 4:00?

    My heart sinks as I walk out of the animal rescue center and into my moms car. I put my head in my lap and start sobbing. I think my mom figures that I need some alone time because we are quiet on the ride home. As we pull into the garage My mom asks if I want to start unpacking my belongings into my room. I nod reluctantly as I droop up to my room.Right as I was about to unpack my alarm clock I heard scratching. SCRATCH SCRATCH I looked outside It was the same people the ones on the ship! oh no I ran to get my phone. I was about to dial 911 but the people had already climbed into my room. The short guy shouted "you couldn't keep quiet could you!" 

I backed onto the wall cold sweat was running down my back. Right as I thought I was finished for I heard feet coming up the stairs the guys froze there faces turning pale. Quick they stammered as they jumped out the window and onto the ground. My mom swung open the door "FILISA KIRA HUGGLE WHAT ARE YOU DOING!" yelled my mom. Sorry mom I mumbled as  I looked at my feet. It was just that bad guys just broke in. My mom was still blazing mad. "You are grounded for a week" my mom shrieked. I slumped onto my bed. Why did life have to be so complex. I opened one of my books staring at all the pictures of dolphins, It always calmed me down.

    At school the next day the girl that sat next to me on the first day looked me over carefully then she spook,  "hi I am Kelly sorry I didn't talk to you yesterday."  I saw the emotion in her eyes and I knew she was sorry. I spoke it's alright. Right then Mrs. Parker started lecturing us about multiplying fractions. My head started spinning, I was in a dirty basement somewhere. There was a sound. Waves... I realized where I was I was In the bottom of that big fishing boat. "Filisa what is the answer to 4/5 x 2/5?" Uhhhh 3/5? I guessed. "Filisa were you even paying attention!" No i mumble under my breath. You will be staying after school to complete this worksheet. She said shaking a paper. Great I think now I will have to explain to Liz why I wasn't at the rescue.

    I was staring at my worksheet hoping that it would magicly do it itself. It was not working I was stuck on question 1. After 4 hours I guess Mrs. Parker got tired of watching me struggle and told me to go home.

After I finally got home from  school at 7:30 I spotted a little yellow card on the marble counter. "Where were you? We got a emergency call about "Flippers" we are at the animal shelter." I felt a pang in my heart. Was Flippers in trouble? I decided I would go and find Flippers myself. But first I would eat something. My hunger rised as the cold spaggety warmed up in the microwave. The tomato sauce smell up and the warmth of the pasta in my mouth.

    After I finished eating I hopped onto my bicikle. Everything was black the streetlights only allowing myself to see a few feet in front of me. After a while of riding I couldn't reconis anything. I noticed I was lost. I told myself not to panic but I could feel myself shaking. I decided the best thing to do was to  was get off the street and wait till morning.

    I awoke next morning to a bright sunrise and birds chirping. I found only a couple of bug bites.  Sea gulls started squawking overhead. I was getting hungrily. I looked around till I spotted a "Crab legs restaurant I headed over. I sat down in a booth ordering waffles and milk. While I waited I peered out the window, there were light green waves washing foam and scattering sea shells everywhere.

    After I finished my meal the check came. Oh no I exclaim I don't have any money! While the Clerk waited I slowly said balancing my words carefully " I don't have any  money and I can't find my way home." The clerk looked blank for a minute then said slowly "I will need your moms phone number." I told her my mom's phone number 801987792. As she dialed the phone number, I hunted for something to pay with a penny or even a quarter. That's when it caught my eye a crisp green piece of paper halfway in a claw machine. I went over and pulled it out. My eyes about popped out of my head a 100$ bill! Just  then the clerk hanged up. Your mom is on her way. I handed her the bill then asked will this pay? Her eyes lingered on the bill for a second the she replied yes.
