the story talk about four girls living with there mother, in a worm cozy house and the father was far away he is, at army fitting with the anemias

there was four beautiful girls living in the house there was, Amy and Meg, Beth, joe 

Beth was the youngest she loves to play piano

and Joe was in the middle she likes writing and read books 

Meg likes to party alot  , but Amy she an artist she like art 

these beautiful  sad girls with a boatful talented miss one thing, the father who's so far away from them they pray every day for him to come back 

Alot of parties happen in the country, Meg and joe get an invitation but the wasn't sure to go because they don't have something fit clothes or shoes, but the went to the party anyway.

and when they where there joe met this gentleman his name was Lore .

he didn't  like party and noises just like joe .

Amy always get joules from joe because her anut always prefer her and one morning joe woke up and saw her papers torn , and amy was the one who responsible for this  thing. 

Beth is the youngest she loves playing piano and it was was very simple for her talent she deserved more  

they have a neighbor and he was Lore's uncle, they a rich people and he loved them and the girls once decide to visit him, when the girls visit the uncle, he was so glad to see them , but beth noticed a piano so she start play but the girls where talking to Lore , the uncle heard beth wile she was playing and he liked the music and he gave her the piano and she felt so happy because the piano was fancy and beautiful  

Joe always dreamt to travel with her aunt but but also amy want also to go because she wanted to be a an artist and the aunt chose amy .

and amy went with her aunt to Italy to approve her talent 

Meg married a man and she become a pregnrent .

Lore like joe from the first time he saw her and he told her but she refused him because she doesn't want , and he followed his aunt and amy , and joe went to France to write complete her book .

lore meet with amy and she was happy .  and joe meet a writer in France to give him her poetry but he was rood with her and she got angry.

and joe got back to her country and her sister Meg had a three children and beth was ill and she didn't play piano since the two girls left and joe and her mother start to look for and take care of beth , 

Beth cuts her hair , joe took beth to the beach to make beth feel good 

Meg come to beth to check  if beth was fine, joe wake up at the night to check on beth and she saw her dead.  

after mouths of Beth death, Amy came back with lore and joe was goanna tell him about her feelings , he came to joes room and she was exited to tell him, and he told her that he and amy got engagement, she was sad to hear that but she was happy for her sister .

at the dinner the waiter who was at France came to Joe house . he told joe he likes her
