Once in a small, quiet town, there lived a girl named Alice and her two adorable pets, Tess (her fluffy, hyper dog) and Bella (her sweet, shy kitten). The three were inseparable. They did everything together; they ate together, took walks together, and even slept in the same bed at night!

One day, Tess and Bella woke up to find Alice packing several bags with her clothes and shoes. This startled the two pets, "Are we going on vacation?" they thought to themselves. Alice gave them both a pat on the head before hurriedly packing again. "Guys, I'm finally going to Camp Pluto! I've been waiting for so long," the girl sang as she threw another sweater into her bag.

Before the two could snap out of their sleep daze to comprehened what Alice was talking about, she gave them both a kiss on the head before running out the door. Hopping into her mom's car, Alice opened the window and smiled "Aww, don't miss me too much. You guys behave, I love you!". Tess and Bella turned their heads in confusion as the vehicle drove down the road.

The two pals stared at each other for a few minutes after they went inside. After a moment of pondering, Tess's eyes widened, "Wait.. Pluto? Why are they taking Alice to Pluto!?" Bella paced in a circle, "She can't be by herself in space.. How will she eat? Or take walks? She will be so lonely without us. Tess, we have to go find her!". Tess barked in agreement. The two jumped through the doggy door and ran down the street, determined to rescue their best friend.

Tess and Bella ran and ran for what seemed like days. Finally, after the long and tiring journey, they reached what they were looking for: a spacecraft carrier site! The two wagged their tails and danced around, happy that they finally found their ticket to space.
But the fun didn't last long. "Hey!" a booming voice came from behind the two, "You're not supposed to be on this property!" The friends jumped and darted inside the nearest spacecraft, a purple UFO that looked like it had been recently used. "Is this safe?" Bella cautiously asked. Before Tess could give an answer, the spacecraft whirred and shot to the sky.

"Ahhh!" the two screamed as the spaceship kept going faster and faster. The craft seemed to have a mind of its own, flying wherever it wanted and however rapidly it decided to. The two friends shook around, dizzy out of their minds, hoping that the craziness would soon end.

Finally, as the sky around the friends became dark, the spacecraft slowed into a steady pace. "Welcome to the Fluency Express," a robotic voice announced, "In order to reach your destination today, you must help me with a few errands first." Tess looked at the craft's control board in disgust, "Errands?! Who are you? What kind of pilot makes the passenger do errands for them?" The craft stayed silent, flying away to its first location.
The spacecraft landed on a dusty rock, where a blue robot was patiently waiting. "Fin. Ally. You. Are. Here! My. Lan. Guage. Pro. Gram. Ming. Has. Been........." The two friends stared at him, "..Mal. Funct... Ion. Ing." Tess and Bella hopped into a spacesuit and stepped outside. "Do you think you can help him out?" the spacecraft asked. The two nodded in agreement as they approached the bot.

"It seems to be that you need help with your Prosody and Rate," Tess proclaimed. "Pros. ody. and..... rate?" the robot raised his hands in confusion. "Yes, prosody considers things like stress, intonation, and rhythm in a language. Every language has its own prosody, although if you are trying to speak English, you may want to focus on a few things. For example, your tempo, which has to do with your Rate of speech, considers how fast one speaks or read. Try to read these words out-loud at a little faster rate. It may help your fluency." The dog handed the robot a slip of written text.

The robot paused for a second as he recalculated. "Does this sound more fluent?" the robot read out-loud "Yes, that sounds perfect! Your rate and prosody seem a lot better," the two smiled. "Good job, we can now head to our next destination," the spacecraft announced as the two waved goodbye and headed back on board.

And off they went to their next planet..

The spacecraft landed on a colorful planet, where a friendly alien was waiting. "Hiya~ can you friends help me with my English reading? Nothing makes sense~! What does c-a-s-t-l-e even mean?! What is a cast-tlee?"

"I think you may need some help with your accuracy and comprehension," Bella smiled. The alien looked in confusion. "Accuracy involves understanding the relationship between letters and their sounds, along with recognizing the high frequency words in your reading," the kitten pointed to the book's text, "for example, c-a-s-t-l-e would be pronounced "castle" and if you noticed the high frequency word "the" before, you might understand that "castle" is a noun that means where kings and queens live."

The alien looked at her book with more clarity on her face. "Comprehension, on the other hand," Bella continued, "is the deeper meaning of your text. It involves thinking about your own thinking, which we call metacognition!" The alien read back through her book but still looked a little puzzled. "Here," Tess gestured, "Let's try some exercises to help you better comprehend."

At that moment, some of the aliens' friends came over with the same book. "Can you help us too?" they proclaimed. "Sure! The more the merrier," Tess smiled,"Let me explain some activities and we can decide which one to use!"
