Before the presidential elections, Colombia had been suffering a drastic transformation, people were educating themselves and reading more about political and economic issues that are important and interesting to every citizen from little children to elders. This happened a long time ago as well, however Colombians woke up from the dream where they lived in a democratic system realizing that they are not. Politicians do what they want with people’s money and they know how to control the masses with the help of the police and other State’s strategies.

Colombian people at this point were so tired of the same situation repeated over and over again. The right-wing had the power of the country! All media like television, radio, newspapers, everything belonged to the right-wing or it was biased to it. That is why the majority of Colombians decided to exercise their right to protest and freedom of speech, but do not get me wrong, this was not a simple protest that would be forgotten in one week, this was going to be more than that, a Colombian Civil War.

The purposes were all clear, fighting for equality of social classes, extreme poverty, education and job vacancies improvement and reduction of salary to public servants.
