If you went back to 1931 and went to a rural community and checked 10 houses. Data would show you that normally only one out of every ten houses back then had electricity. People in cities normally did get electricity and so there were many business and factories. Most rural communities didn't get electricity until the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Act of 1933, said to build transmission lines to the small towns and the farms that didn't have electricity.

Now, there is electricity EVERYWHERE! In the USA alone there are more than 900 electric companies that NRCEA represents. They were all created for non-profit. They give homes and stores and any other building, electricity. There is a company in general that does a lot of stuff. This company is called, "The Arlington, Va." 2 of the many things this company does is, conduct director training, and perform economic research

If you went back to 1931 you would see that almost all farms had absolutely no electricity. The only thing on their farms that might be even remotely electric was that some farmers had tractors. When farmers had to milk their cows. They would have to do it with the dim light of one small kerosene lantern or in easier terms, oil lamp. But that was the only way some people could get any type of dairy.

Now, when we want dairy or any other grocery we just go to the store and get it. You now also don't have to eat your food immediately because we have fridges to keep them at a cool temperature. So, be glad you aren't living in 1931!

As you know, In 1931 there was no electricity. So of course back then you could not call a repair man to fix a window. Neither could you call an electrician. Also, you couldn't go to the store at night, this was because there were no lights at all.

Today, you can get a repair man to come to your house. You can also get an electrician to come to your door. You can now go to the store during the night because of lights or, you can order stuff off your phone.

Back 1931 there was no electricity so there was no air conditioning. In the winter there would be no heating other than the regular blankets, and during the summer there would be no air conditioning. Even if there were *AC*'s its not like you could call the AC person over, this for two reasons. One, there were no phones. Two, they wouldn't be able to come by in the grueling winter or the deathly hot summers.

Now most homes have AC's. In the horrid winters we feel nice and toasty because of the heating. In the gruesome summers we can feel cool and not sweating. We should all be grateful that we have AC's that sometimes work, in our homes.

Back in 1931 people in rural areas could not go to stores like we can today. In rural areas people had to depend entirely on agriculture. If the farmers didn't have any plant growth that year then  the whole community would suffer.

Now, today we don't have to really go to farms often because trucks deliver it to *supermarkets*. We now also don't have to depend on agriculture as much because of two small reasons. One, there is now hydroponics where we can grow food in only water. Number two, scientists can make food in a lab and those foods are called processed foods.

Lets go back in time. Except that we are going to the cities in 1939. Back at this time the biggest energy power was coal. This we know, was not good for the environment. Still, back then they did not know that it was not a clean-energy source.

Now, back in our time. We have all sorts of clean-energy sources. Most of them being small and new. One of them is solar panels that use the sun as a source of energy. Our world is hopefully starting to get a few bits cleaner with the new clean-energy sources.
