For my dog Charlie

One day, Charlie was sleeping, then his owners yelled "Charlie! It's time for a walk!"

When Charlie went for a walk, his leash broke. He kept walking not noticing that his leash broke. He looked back behind him. He saw the torn end of the leash. He couldn't see our hear his owners. He was lost.

Charlie yelled, "Owners?! Help!!" Nobody answered. Charlie was scared, but, he knew what to do. He was a skilled camper. He knew how to make a stick house. He also knew how to make it warm, too. He ran to get his supplies to build his shelter.

Charlie was no where near done when the cold, dark night came. It was still very cold in his shelter. He needed sleep and it would be too dangerous to find supplies in the dark, so he went to sleep.
The next morning Charlie smelt something. It smelt like apples. He followed the sent until he saw an apple tree. It was winter though, so there was nothing on it. Charlie was smart though. He dug down under the snow, and there were some rotten apples. Charlie ate the rotten apples because he is a dog and dogs will eat anything.

Charlie ate three of the apples, then he got some snow to put over the stick shelter he made. That would make it warm.

Charlie ended up even more lost. He didn't know how to get back, but he was brave, so he kept walking, until it was too dark. Charlie looked around. He saw a cave. He didn't just have experience with camping. He had experience with cave exploring, so he went in the cave.

It was a good thing Charlie found this cave. It is warm, and dark enough to sleep. It was a good shelter. Charlie went to sleep.
