One day, Max heard a strange noise coming from 

the street in front of his house. When he went out to 

check what it was, he saw a BIG moving truck, 

movers, a beautiful woman, and a little boy. He 

didn't know new people were moving into the 

neighborhood. Not that he cared, he tried to talk to 

the boy, but he was rude, Max was afraid of him, 

and didn't like him very much. But then, everything 

changed.

Max called the little boy Freak. Freak called 

Max Mighty. So, from that point, they were 

Freak the Mighty! Nobody really knows how 

it happened, but they became best friends! 

They went on quests together!   It was 

dangerous, but fun! In Freak's mind they were 

robots, and slayed dragons!

One of the quests was to go to the New 

Tenements and deliver a purse to a lady 

named Loretta. They weren't supposed to 

go over there, it was the most dangerous 

part of town, but it was part of the quest! 

So, they did. Loretta was happy to get her 

purse back, but she thought they stole the 

money, even though they didn't. They were 

lucky to get out of there when they did! Her 

husband was NOT happy!

Eventually, school came back. Freak the 

Mighty was a hit! Everybody at school got used 

to them always being together. One day was a 

bad day though. Freak started choking, and 

was rushed to the hospital very quickly! On the 

other hand, Max's dad got out of jail. Or, was 

on parole, anyway. Max didn't wanna be near 

his dad. When Max was little, his father, Kenny 

Kane, murdered his mom. He was scared and 

very worried.

Max's grandparents, who he's living with, tried 

to get a law against him so he can't go near 

the house. But, before that happened 

something terribly happened.
