What is Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a family holiday. Husbands, wives, children and elderly people all over the country, from city to town, from town to town, from town to village, all return to their hometown to spend the holiday together.

People who can’t get home also make long-distance calls to talk with their parents and family members and share things of gratitude. Thanksgiving dinner is actually the same across the country. The table is always filled with all kinds of delicious food. Naturally, it is mainly turkey. Eating pumpkin pie is to remind everyone that the Indians gave such a gift to the first settlers.

when did it start

There was no fixed date for Thanksgiving at the beginning, and it was decided temporarily by the states of the United States. It was not until 1863 after the independence of the United States that President Lincoln declared Thanksgiving as a national holiday.

 In 1941, the U.S. Congress officially designated the fourth Thursday of November every year as "Thanksgiving Day." The Thanksgiving holiday generally lasts from Thursday to Sunday.
