Our Chinese students had the opportunity to make húntún (wonton) in the school kitchen. The students will have a Chinese New Year celebration in February. We will make New Year's food: rice cakes, dumplings, sesame balls, and fried noodles.

Chinese students did the Christmas caroling in Chinese to over 20 classes. Students were so excited to show their talents.
我们祝你圣诞快乐,新年快乐!
你好! My name is Naysa Mageno or 巴慧洁 which is my Chinese name. I started learning Chinese as a Freshman and I am currently learning it right now as a Sophomore. The reason as to why I chose to learn Chinese is because I want to feel more connected with my culture.
You should consider joining Chinese because it is very fun, engaging, and the teacher is very nice. It's a great language to learn for job opportunities, and also the characters are really cool. If you are worried about Chinese being difficult well... It isn't, as long as you just pay attention, participate, and engage with your peers. Overall, you should really think about joining Chinese! Thank You!

拼音 (pīn yīn) — Chinese romanization 汉字 (hàn zì) — Chinese characters
Pinyin are the sounds of Chinese characters using the Latin alphabet. When typing “nihaoma,” you will see “你好吗How are you?” as an option. To type even faster, you can input just the first letters of each pinyin syllable to get common words and phrases. For example, “nhm” can get you to “你好吗nihaoma?” Typing phrase by phrase will save you tons of time!!!

To Mrs. Jones my Chinese teacher.

The teachers I've had over the years have made every lesson interesting and creatively fun to learn. They welcome and encourage students in class to get out of their comfort zone and be involved with each other. Working together as a class has made Chinese more fun and easier to learn. Chinese can be difficult if you let it get to you, but you can find ways and strategies to get better at pronunciation and writing hanzi.

你好!My name is Karina Ibarra (爱琳). I have taken Chinese for two years. I started learning as a freshman and I want to continue learning it for the rest of high school. I wanted to join Chinese class because I thought it would be an interesting language to learn. I wanted to learn more about the culture, customs, and the language.
I think Chinese class is fun. Some of my favorite activities that we have done are learning the meaning behind Chinese characters and also learning how to write them. In this class you will also get a Chinese name. Your Chinese name will have a meaning that is unique to you. I think you should consider joining Chinese because it is interesting and easy if you pay attention.

你好!My name is Nhu Y or 吴艳艳 in Chinese, I have been learning Chinese for 2 years. When I first started learning Chinese, I was fascinated by the culture, and food. Further on I get to see the art of writing Chinese character and each meaning. You should learn Chinese to gain more insight into the culture, holidays, history, and amazing food. Learning Chinese have been so much fun for me, and I'm positive it will be fun for other people too.

(你好,我叫安玉儿)Hello, my name is Jeilani Arredondo.
I chose 中文 because I enjoy learning new languages, and backgrounds of the beautiful culture. In the long term I believe that 中文 is also beneficial. 中文 is one of most spoken languages around the world with a high marketing business. By learning and knowing 中文 the possibilities for future opportunity could be endless and prosperous.

Although 中文 seems like a complicated language, if you pay attention, it truly becomes a fun and understandable language. In Chinese class, we not only learn the language itself, but we also learn about the rich culture, and the history behind it. Activities such as cooking, writing, singing and more are what we do in class daily. It's a fun class where we all cooperate to learn best !

你好!我叫唐倩 or in English my name is Bella Tang. I started learning Chinese because I wanted to learn a different language and also wanted to learn Chinese because I am Chinese. I choose to take Chinese to learn about my heritage. That's why I choose to take Chinese.
I think you should join the Chinese class too. This class is fun, easy, and you get to learn a different language. So if you are looking to fit another class on your schedule, that is easy--take Chinese one. It's a good class, you should consider
taking it. Thank you!
To Understand China, you HAVE to know its CULTURE

你好!My name is Hope Kaihatu, this is my second year of learning Chinese. I took it my freshman year and now again my senior year.
I chose to take Chinese because my older brother took it when he went to East and talked about how he loved it so much. I decided to take it since the culture varies so much in comparison to America and I love learning about writing characters, the strokes, and pinyin.

你好!My name is Maxwell Oglesby. I am in the Mandarin Chinese II class. You should take Chinese because it is a super fun class. We get to learn Chinese culture and we even get to cook! You get to learn how to read, type, and write, all in a different language. We learn a lot and although it seems hard at first, once you get the hang of it you can learn Chinese super fast!

In this class, you can learn things that you can actually use! You can learn your name, mine is 欧舞方! You can pick your own name and you pick what it means! Learning a new language is also really good for your brain! I recommend Chinese because it is different and it is cooler to learn! You can show off to your friends! Make sure to join Mandarin Chinese next year!! You will not regret it!
你好 freshman. My name is Cameron Oakes 欧凯明。I have been in Chinese for 4 years and have learned a lot about the Chinese language as well as Chinese traditions and culture. In class we experience all sorts of aspects of China and learn a lot about how and why characters/hanzi are written. When I first started, I was very confused because the teacher talked a lot in Chinese, but after a while I began to understand and It feels really good knowing what someone is saying if they are speaking Chinese.
Learning Chinese can lead to all sorts of opportunities in your future and can help you get jobs. It can also be useful for traveling because so many people speak it. If you decide to take Chinese in any 4 of your years, remember to try you best, participate, and study hard in order to learn as much as you can. Chinese may seem like a hard language at first but after you understand the basics it gets much easier.
Hello, freshman! My name is Angela Tanner谭安兰. Chinese is really fun and you get to learn a lot about the language and culture and the Chinese culture has so many interesting aspects to it.
I think more people should take Chinese because it can be so useful in your life and Chinese is a difficult language but learning it can be very rewarding, especially learning the characters and the strokes and how much meaning they have.

你好(Nǐ hǎoHi) ! My name is Nathan Coates or 寇凯达 (reaching triumph) in Chinese. I started learning Chinese language (中文Zhōngwén) this year, and it's a fun class with lots of excitement. I promise that if you take this class you will never have a dull moment! 中文may seem like a hard language at first, but as Mrs. Jones (Jones老师 lǎoshī) keeps telling us, its actually quite easy to learn! (Only 100 combinations of sounds.) 中文 is also fun because of its culture. Many fun things stem from Chinese culture, including movies, books, and ideas. Not to mention 1/5 of the world population speaks 中文! If you're going into business, 中文 is an essential language, as many big businesses are based in China. With the ability to speak 中文, you increase your own image and make 中文 businesses think better of you!
中文 is also very fun because of the misunderstandings while learning. Did you know that in 中文 horse(马mǎ ), mother(妈妈 māmā), and marijuana(大麻dàmá)all sound very similar? This leads to some hilarious moments when you accidentally say, "I love weed." rather than, "I love mom."
中文 has lots of fun as well as lots of learning, and we sing, dance, watch movies, and even cook! I have learned much more about China beyond its language.
If you decide to join 中文, you'll be in for a ride, but as long as you pay attention to Jones老师, and stay OFF your phone, you'll have a blast!
Hope to see you in the Chinese Class (中文班Zhōngwén bān)!
你好!(Hi!) my name is Emily Coates or 寇春霞 in Chinese. I chose to learn Chinese because I thought it would be fun and it was a good opportunity to expand my learning. I thought that Chinese would be a cool language to learn. I am in the Chinese 1 class, and we get to do all sorts of fun activities to learn the characters and the language. We also do all sorts of games that help us learn the culture. We make Chinese food, and sing different songs in class. You should only take this class if you are willing to work hard, and put in the effort to learn a new language. It can be very challenging, but very rewarding and fun. I hope you decide to take Chinese. 再见!(goodbye!)
