Ethnocentrism

                            Ethnocentrism Cont.

Ethnocentrism : "The term ethnocentrism then refers to the tendency for each society to place its own culture patterns at the centre of things."

These Photos are applicable to ethnocentrism because the people who live in this city unfortunately have to deal with their city being abandoned, having businesses closed or buildings in rubble. As a result of this many people living here will accept this way of life as their norm. Hence why ethnocentrism is applicable here   

                                    Strain Theory 

"Strain theory states that structures within society end up pressuring people to resort to criminal activities."

 I Chose the pictures on the previous slides because prior to visiting the city of McKeesport I had read it was a city of very high crime. Upon visiting its is evident why strain theory would be applicable here. The people of this city have little to no resources and most of the stores and businesses are either abandoned or closed. Due to this it is evident why the crime rates there are so high.

 Conflict Theory "is a theory that society is in a state of perpetual conflict because of competition for limited resources."

This Theory relates to these pictures cause these are pictures of the section 8 housing to which I had delivered food to. Section 8 housing is available to those struggling immensely. Often times people have extremely long periods of time to get into these homes because so many people are in need of housing as well hence the competition for limited resources.
