Setting

Why is this event so important in US History and where we live today?
Because even after the colonists have been living in America for 100 years, they still don't have any freedom from Great Britain. This protest is what started their road to being finally free in 1776.
Key Players Involved

The 2 groups of people that were involved in the Boston Tea Party were the Sons of Liberty and the entire British Empire.
The Sons of Liberty were a group of colonists that tried to stick up for themselves against Great Britain. During these times, Britain controlled everything that the colonists would do, even though they now live so far apart from each other.
Cause of conflict

Why did Britain try and get money from the New World by putting taxes on tea that the colonists wanted to drink?
Because although Britain ended up winning the Seven Years' War, they lost a lot of money from it. They tried to make it back by taxing the people that left Britain to live in the New World.
Conflict

This protest made by the colonists is what started the famous saying, "no taxation without representation."
According to the British Constitution, it is illegal to tax people on things when they have no political representation. The colonists knew Britain's plan was wrong, so they tried to stand up for themselves in a big way.
