It had rained the entire day. The rain continued to fall heavily. I sat in the living room, reading a newspaper. Out of the blue, my brothers dashed into the living room, telling me that the water level in the drain had increased. As a result, I stepped outside to investigate. The sink had flooded, which I noticed right away! The water flooded the parking spot. The living room was inundated in less than ten minutes, and the water was up to my knees. My parents brought the vital paperwork and some valuables home with them when they returned home. The water level began to rapidly rise. We were soon unable to remain in our home and were forced to relocate to the roof.

Some of my neighbors had already piled their possessions on the roof. It was still raining cats and dogs, so most of them were using umbrellas. Night fell quickly, and everything was pitch black. We were shivering from the cold. There was nothing left for us to do but pray and hope for the best. We were hopeful that the authorities were aware of our predicament and that help was on its way.

Once in a blue moon, at the rooftop, there’s a family of vipers. My blood ran cold it scared me so much. Taking the risks to save my family but sacrificing myself is fraught with danger, it is about my life and my beloved ones. 

“Adam, no!”- mum shouted at me.

 “Don’t worry mum, everything going to be okay”-I replied

“Arghh”-I screamed and pulled out my leg to see two small bloody marks

In a strike - venom get into my body, I can’t feel my leg anymore, but I saw it was swollen and getting worse.

We noticed flashes of light in the distance a few minutes later. As the lights approached us, we learned that it was the rescue teams, much to our joy. We were happy to see them arrive on boats to save us.

Our family was sent to a relief center in a school, along with the other victims. Because of its high elevation, it was unaffected by the flood.
