The Arctic wolf or also known as the Polar wolf, lives in northern Canada and in Greenland, where its cold.
Food
The Arctic wolves eat a lot, they eat : Muskoxen, Arctic hares, Lemmings, Caribou, Arctic foxes, Birds, and Beetles. They mostly rely on Arctic hares.
Physical Characteristics
The Arctic wolf is white all over with thick fur, the white fur stays all year round which helps them blend in the snow. They have strong back legs, to help them run in the snow. And they have a sensitive nose to help them hunt.
Types
There are 40 different subspecies of wolves in the world, they are all in the Canidae Family. 3 of them are the Eurasian wolf, North western wolf, and the Arctic wolf. That was only 3 species out of all 40. The Arctic wolves scientific name is Canis Lupus Arctos.
Relatives
The Artic wolf is a subspecies of the Gray wolf. A simple example of a subspecies is the tiger, there are other species of that tiger like the Sumatran tiger, the Sumatran tiger is a subspecies of the tiger. So the Arctic wolf is one of the many species of a gray wolf but is adapted to the arctic.
