Hi kids I am Robert the science guy and today we will be learning about the remote control! The remote control is a useful invention that helps us control stuff without having to go near it. In this book we will learn about the history and inner workings of the remote control!

Chapter 1

the history

The remote control was first invented in 1898 by Nikola Tesla, using radio waves and a miniature boat. The boat was controlled by a box with a lever and a telegraph box. The technology would start to catch on and soon there would be ,remote control bikes ,boats ,and even torpedo's.      

The technology would be used in World War 1 by the German Navy, using remote control boats filled with explosives to attack other ships. In World War 2 both the Americans and Germans experimented with remote controlled missiles. By the 30s and 40s remote control would start to become popular. Inventions such as the ,model plane ,garage door openers ,and the radio remote control had been invented. 

In 1956 the wireless TV remote control was invented. This remote control worked by using ultrasonic sound frequency to control the TV. Until the 80s Ultrasonic sound was used in remotes until they starting using infrared light to control the TV. Nowadays you can find many things that use remote controls such as video games, toy cars, and even toilets!  

Chapter 2 how it works

The remote control in a TV remote works by using inferred light. Inferred light is a type of light that humans can not see that travels in a longer wavelength then red. Inferred light is at the front end of the remote, and works by flashing really quickly to emit a message to the TV to tell it what to do.
