Luke and Rue had planned a trip to the taiga. “Don’t forget our winter clothes!” said Luke.  They knew they needed to pack a lot of back packing equipment for their adventure because the taiga is cold.  Winter can last up to seven months.  The highest temperature in winter is 30 degrees Fahrenheit. They were most excited to see a moose. Finally the big day arrived.  They grabbed their equipment which was as heavy as a weight and climbed on the airplane.They flew to Canada which is in the taiga biome.

When Luke and Rue  arrived in the taiga the first thing they did was rent a cabin. As it got dark outside Luke heard a snorting sound in the dark.  ‘What was that?’ said Luke. It was a moose! Luke was scared and grabbed his flashlight. The moose was big as a cabinet Luke used his flashlight to try to scare the moose. But it didn’t work. In fact it made things worse. Now Rue started barking at the moose. Luke accidentally opened the door and Rue chased after the moose. A moose can be dangerous if threatened.  It can kick,  stomp and charge. 

   Luke yelled, “Rue stop chasing after the moose!  You could get charged!” But Rue did not listen. She ran and ran after the moose. The moose ran into the dark forest.  The taiga has many forests with coniferous trees; trees that have cones and needles.  They stay green even in the winter.  Thankfully, Luke had his flashlight. He used his flashlight to look for Rue. She was still running after the moose.
