The Track

The track is the same for every single track meet around the world. Each race is different, but the distance around the track is 400 meters. 

Track Events

All of the events in a track meet are the 100m run, 200m run, 400m run, 800m run, 1600m run, 3200m run, 100m hurdles, 110m hurdles, 300m hurdles, 4x100m relay, 4x200m relay, and 4x400m relay. 

The "Sprints"

The "sprints" consist of the 100m, 200m, 400m, and the 800m runs. The 100m is the straight 100m on the track and is an even start. The 200m run is one curve and the straight together in one race. The 400m run is one lap around the whole track. The 800m run is two laps around the track. 

The Distance Runs

The distance runs is anything that is longer than 800m. These races typically include the 1600m and the 3200m runs. The 1600m run is four laps around the track and the 3200m run is eight laps around the track. 

The Hurdles

The hurdles are running events and during the race, the runners have to jump over an obstacle. The races are the 100m hurdles for girls, 110m hurdles for boys, and 300m hurdles for both.
