CINDERELLA'S POINT OF VIEW

I heard a knock at the door one day and I saw my teacher and a
bright hot pink envelope with a fake lipstick stuck on the back.
“What’s this?” I asked.
“It is an invitation to our social young lady and I expect you to be
there,” she told me.
I wanted to go to the social so badly but my mother did not let me
because I had a jazz lesson.
“You cannot miss your dance lesson Alicia because of a silly
social,“ she told me.
Sometimes I think that my stepmother can be very rude but right
then I did not have a choice because my parents are dead and I
couldn't do anything about her. I have two stepsisters, Madison
and Ellie, who absolutely hate me and my interests but it also
seems to me that my stepmother treats me like garbage and them
like angels.

So anyway, I went to dance practice and I think that my dance
teacher, Mr Fairywrinkle, suspected that I was sad and he asked
me what was wrong.
“My mother is not allowing me to go to the biggest high school
social because I have this dance lesson to finish and everyone is
going,” I sobbed.
He told me that he could help me but I might have to take extra
dance lessons to catch – up.
“How could you help me? All you can do is dance,” I told him.

Then something weird happened. In a second Mr Fairywrinkle turned into
my Fairy Godfather. It seemed like the Cindrella book that dad used to
read to me every night after school when I was 7. Mr Fairywinkle waved
a wand in my face and then gasped and I could feel something was
different. He had turned me ugly and I could feel the wrinkles that had
appeared on my face.
“What did you do?” I screamed. “You’ve turned me ugly, how am I
supposed to go to the social looking like this?”
“Calm down,” he said.
"I can't calm down because I have to go to a high school social and meet
a nice guy there and fall in love and uhhhhh you’ve just messed It up for
me,” I said really quickly.
“Ok Alicia, there is one thing you need to know about your face. If you do
not come to me before the midnight bell strikes then you will turn ugly
forever so you should be on time,” he said to me.

I was going to scream but I knew that things couldn't get
better so I just left the conversation and rode my skateboard
to the social. It was like the ugly duckling on a skateboard
but what could I do...

I looked around just in case I saw someone I knew and then I
saw a guy in a suit who came over to me and asked if I knew
how to ride a skateboard, He must have seen it in my hand
but then he asked me my name. I didn’t want to tell him that
my name was Alicia because I looked like this so instead I told
him my name was Cinderella because my father loved that
book. I was hoping that he wouldn’t ask my about my face but
then his next question came rolling in.

“I don’t want to be rude but why is your face kind of deformed?”
he asked.
I was kind of angry at the question he asked so I just said that I
failed my Grade 4 exam and have had trouble sleeping over it so I
wasn’t able to get my beauty sleep. I didn’t want to lie but I
couldn’t have told him that my fairygodfather dance teacher
waved a wand and turned me ugly so I just lied.
We danced for a while and then Madison, one of my sisters, came
and ‘accidentally’ spilled juice on me. She said sorry but in a
devilish way and I don’t think that she meant what she said.

I decided to leave the juice matter because I looked ugly
anyway but then the weirdest thing happened. George, the
jock, asked me for my number but I must have wasted 5
minutes because I was in shock because just as I was writing
the last few digits the midnight bell rung and I panicked and
ran back Mr Fairywrinkle. I realised that I had left my
skateboard at the social but I also realised that I would have
to stay ugly forever.
