    The first reason is disposing of garbage on the beach can damage marine ecosystems. Most people say that disposing garbage at the beach will quickly decompose by sea water, but it is actually wrong. Garbage, especially plastic waste can be fragmented into micro and nano sizes so that plastics of these sizes allow it to be consumed by marine biota and invertebrates. The Ocean Conservancy Institute states that 28% of fish in Indonesia contain plastic (Karnila, 2015 as stated in Icha, 2020). Therefore, it is possible for people to consume fish that have been contaminated by garbage. In addition, garbage pollution in the sea also contributes to the death of coral reefs. Plastic waste will get caught and cover coral reefs, so that the photosynthesis process of these marine animals will be disrupted and cause coral reefs to die. In short, disposing of garbage on the beach can damage marine ecosystems.

    The second reason is that disposing garbage on the beach can increase pollution in the environment of residents near the coast. Most people say that disposing garbage on the beach can reduce the pollution of garbage on land because there will be less garbage on land, but it is actually wrong. Instead, the garbage that is dumped on the beach will be brought back to the environment of residents near the coast by the beach waves. In February 2020, piles of garbage dragged by waves polluting Bali's Kedonganan Beach and the coastal environment (Wibowo, 2020). If the amount of plastic waste in the environment of coastal residents continues to increase, it can lead to the development of seeds of disease that can infect residents and reduce human productivity in carrying out daily activities. In short, disposing of garbage on the beach can increase pollution in the environment of residents near the coast.
