There was a little boy named Joseph and he
had two daddies. Joseph called them Daddy
Aaron and Daddy Barry. They were a family.
Joseph loved his family because they spent a
lot of time together and always made him feel
loved.

All of the children in Joseph’s school loved his
daddies, too. Daddy Barry worked as a
computer programmer for a local company, so
he helped Joseph’s school with their computer
needs. He even donated some cool educational
computer games. Daddy Aaron worked at a
gym and was very good with martial arts. He
led an after school Karate program for the
boys and girls. All of the children thought they
were the coolest parents.

One day Daddy Barry got a better job for
another computer company in another state.
This meant Joseph had to move and leave all
his friends behind. This made Joseph a little
sad. Daddy Barry told Joseph he would make
new friends and learn new things. Joseph was
excited about this.

Joseph’s first day at his new school came fast.
Both Daddy Aaron and Daddy Barry dropped
Joseph off at school because he was nervous.
They took him to his classroom and gave him a
kiss on each cheek before they left. This made
Joseph feel better. He took a seat by a little
girl that looked nice.

“Hi, my name is Sarah. Our teacher Ms. Walton said to
make you feel welcome. What’s your name?” said the
little girl.
“I’m Joseph,” Joseph replied.
“That’s a nice name. Why did those men drop you off
instead of your mommy?”
“I don’t have a mommy. Those two men were my
daddies.”
“Two daddies? You’re supposed to have a mommy and
daddy, not two daddies. That’s weird.”
“No it’s not. I have two daddies and they’re great.
“I don’t want to play with a weird boy with two daddies.”

Sarah did not talk to Joseph anymore that day. Joseph
was sad that Sarah called his family weird. His day got
even worse. At recess some of the kids in his class
teased him about what Sarah told them. They chanted
“There’s the weird boy with two daddies!” “There’s the
weird boy with two daddies!”
