Fred the ant lived in a peaceful village beside a small 

house with his mom and dad and little sister Pip.

One day, Fred was feeling rather antsy and 

decided to go for a stroll in the woods.   "Don't 

wander too far," said his mother.

Fred walked along, admiring the green grass 

and cool air.   He sang a happy little tune.

A short time later, as Fred looked around, 

everything seemed to look the same as it did 

before.   "I'd better start heading home," Fred 

said to himself.

Fred tried to go left, but nothing looked 

familiar.

Then Fred tried to go right, but still, nothing 

looked familiar.

Fred felt sad and alone.

"I'll never find my way home," thought Fred.  

"I'm tired and hungry and I miss my family."

Just when Fred thought he could not be more 

lonely, he heard a soft voice.   "Hello," it said.  

"What's the buzz?"
