

The civil rights of the 1960s were a largely commemorated time in history. People protested and fought for their equal place in the world. They had big gatherings of people with signs that said things like "Equality for all" and "End police brutality" to try to get their message through to the government and society as a whole.

Martin Luther King Jr. was a big leader of the civil rights movement. He organized protests and gave big speeches, he even marched for equal rights right along with the other protesters. His famous "I have a dream" speech gives great hope and inspiration even today.

Rosa parks was another great leader of the civil rights movement. She sparked the Montgomery bus boycott.
