Twice every year, time goes through change.
Spring forward, fall back.
The sun is setting at 7 o'clock, “So, why does it feel like 6?” We wonder during the Spring.
“Why is the sun setting when it's barely 5PM?” We ask in the Fall.
We lost an hour of sleep, they say, but where did it go? How do we get it back?
Why do we have to spring forward, and fall back, where does the time go?

Daylight Savings….what are they? Where did they start?

Daylight savings is the act of turning clocks forward during spring and summer and turning them back during the winter.
So... we all have one more hour of daylight during the warm seasons!
In 1916, during World War I, Germany set their clocks ahead one hour to attempt to save power and fuel for the war.
In the U.S, it was first established during World War II, from 1942 to 1945.
After some trial and error along the years, daylight savings that we know and use today were established in 2007.

Some background...
Second Sunday of march all the way to the first Sunday of November
In summer the days are longer, in winter they are shorter.
Fun Fact:
Arizona and Hawaii are 2 states that do not observe daylight savings
When do they start?
Most of Europe
North America
Argentina
Paraguay
Cuba
Haiti
New Zealand
Some parts of Australia
Countries with daylight savings:

In reality, daylight savings do not help save any large amounts of energy in the U.S
Fun facts:
