To all the black queens.

Destiny and her dad move to the U.S from Cameroon because dad gets a great high paying job opportunity as a surgeon in the states. While dad has a great paying job Destiny starts school at a predominantly white school.

Destiny has been growing out her locs since she was 5 and never really thought any about them until she moved to the states. Everywhere she goes from the park to the store she realizes that everyone's hair is very different from her’s.
When Destiny gets to school she is really shy and doesn’t really fit in, especially with being the new kid.
With Destiny's 8th birthday coming up soon she wants to make the decision to comb out her locs and perm her hair.
When Destiny comes back from school, she looks for her dad all over the house and finally finds him. “ Daddy can I comb my locs out and perm my hair for my birthday?” she asks

In response Destiny dad says “ Destiny I love you hair the way it is why would you want to do such a thing?” “ Because all the girls at my school have silky straight hair and I want to do the same” says Destiny. “ Well you don’t have to be the same as everyone, you are different in you own beautiful way” dad says as he gives Destiny a kiss on the cheek. “Okay” Destiny sighs

Hey cheer up my little one, your principal sent me a message telling me that you are going to have a new teacher tomorrow. Are you excited?” dad exclaimed.“ I guess” says Destiny

The next rolls around and when Destiny gets to school she starts to cry out in the corner of the hallway before school starts. “ What's wrong baby you okay?” said an unfamiliar voice. Destiny looked up and saw a beautiful lady with a large Afro in hair and smelt like fresh fruit. Destiny wanted to compliment the woman but was too sad to do so.
