One day I went on a road trip with my dad. We were driving to Mexico City. We were about 30 minutes into the trip when we saw a man with his thumb out for hitchhiking. My dad wanted to pick him up, but I said it was dangerous and eventually convinced him not to. A while later, we decided to stop for food. At the restaurant, we saw the same man, once again hitchhiking. I thought it was creepy, but my dad said it was just a coincidence. We got food and left. When we saw the hitchhiker for the third time, I knew something was going on. My dad joked “He must have somewhere to be.”
Even after I warned him, he still decided to pick him up, because he thought he was desperate for a ride.
“Hello,” says my dad.
“Hi,” the man says aggressively. He gets in the backseat. “So where do you want to go?” asks my dad.
“Mexico City, you headed there?” says the man. I thought it was strange he was going to the exact same place as us, but probably just a coincidence, right? My dad said “Wow! We are going to the same place.”
“Oh, cool, that's strange,” says the man. He says his name is Jack and his car was stolen.
“I’m sorry to hear that,” says my dad. My dad asks if he can put on the album Abbey Road.
