Birds are chirping,

Sun is bright, 

Londyn is filled 

with joy and delight! 

That's right, you guessed it, the first day of school.

Where best friends are made and teachers are cool!

 Before you start your day,

and get on the groove,

Listen and learn

and your day will go smooth.

The first day can be tough,

so, repeat after me,

"Whenever I am upset, 

just breathe and count to three!"

We made it to school,

so much fun on the way.

First stop is the art room,

where we can explore and play.

There were so many new faces, 

I started to worry.

Being really shy and afraid,

Londyn wanted the day to go in a hurry!

We had to pair with a friend

to complete our arts and crafts. 

Worried that no one would pick me, 

"I don't think I'll make it pass math."

but, when in doubt, never pout,

remember the golden rule.

Just breathe and count to three 

and you'll never feel unsure!

Londyn remembered the golden rule, 

and she became so brave.

Instead of a friend finding her, 

she asked a friend if they would like to pair and play.

The friend said yes, of course,

and Londyn felt a sense of relief.

As long as you have confidence 

you'll always conquer defeat!

Next stop, MATH!

What an exciting way to learn.

All the numbers and possibilities 

would sure take you for a turn.

For Londyn, math wasn't her favorite,

and it was difficult staying on task. 

She was afraid to get called on in class 

as she thought her friends might laugh. 

Just as she thought, her worst fear 

was right before her eyes. 

Mr. Chang called her to the board 

for an unwanted surprise.

The fear of being embarrassed,

Londyn froze like ice.

she whispered, "Breathe and count to three,"

and suddenly all the butterflies in her tummy 

all turned nice.

Londyn asked Mr. Chang, 

"Is it okay to get help from my friends?"

He looked and smiled and shouted, "OH WOW,"

as Londyn just started a trend!

Friends chimed in to help her out

they began to shout and hooray! 

 That's enough today for Londyn and friends 

let's go to the playground and play!
