Once upon a time a young boy named Robert
Ross was visiting the park with his family.

After exploring and playing on the slides he decided to go
over to the sand box, excited to try out his new toy pail.

When he got there he met a boy named Kurtz. This boy seemed
to have a collection of pails, shovels and other sand tools. Kurtz
eyed Robert’s new toy, “I have an idea,” he said. “You should add
your pail to my tools and we can make the biggest, best sand
castle ever!”

“That sounds like a great idea,” exclaimed Robert! He didn’t notice all
of the kids without toys sitting behind them looking distraught. When
it was time to start building Kurtz became very bossy. Only he could
use the toys, decide where everything was going to go and how it
was going to be done. Robert wasn’t having very much fun.

“I’m going to go play on the monkey bars,” sighed
Robert reaching for his pail.
“No way,” Kurtz yelled, “We need to finish the
castle! He yanked the bucket out of Robert’s
hands.

Feeling a betrayed and sad Robert sulked over to the grassy area. While
sitting there he saw a rabbit run across the field. Robert had always loved
animals. Overcome by curiosity he wandered towards the rabbit. It
twitched timidly and hopped in his direction. He slowly held out his arm, it
approached and continued to gently nibble his fingers. Robert was so
pleased with his new friend that he forgot about Kurtz.

Kurtz sees the rabbit and runs after
them.
“Give me that rabbit,” he demanded.
“No this rabbit is my friend,” replied
Robert.

All of the commotion startled the animal; it leapt out of
Robert’s arms and bolted from the scene. Seeing the
animal’s reaction to his behaviour Kurtz felt guilty and
realized that acting this way was not very nice. Kurtz
apologized to Robert and offered to help him find the
rabbit again. After searching they found the rabbit and
played with it together.

The animal grew so attached to Robert it followed him
all the way home. He left the park not only with a new
pet but a new friend named Kurtz.
