Once upon a time, there was a little red
train named Frankie.
Frankie was a happy train because he
lived in Snortlesville, which was always
sunny and warm.

One day, as he was carrying a load of
watermelons to the Snortlesville market,
he noticed something strange in the sky.
Frankie wondered what it was, as he
chugged along the tracks. It was black and
fluffy. As the black fluff came closer Frankie
realized it looked like a cloud.

Frankie had been told many times not to be on
the train tracks in bad weather but, because
Snortlesville was always sunny he never had to
worry about bad weather.
So Frankie continued on his way to deliver the
watermelons to Snortlesville.

Frankie arrived at his next stop, Melonville. Then, as
Frankie pulled out of Melonville with three more
watermelons on his way to farmer Park's farm a gentle
rain began.
Frankie began to worry. He knew he had to deliver the
watermelons before eight fifteen but, he also knew the
railroads were dangerous in bad weather.
Frankie decided to continue on his way because the
rain was so light.

Little did he know a big storm was about to pass
through and wasn't going to end until nine oclock.
Slowly the rain began to get heavier and heavier.
Winds began gusting and the clouds were moving
fast through the evening sky.
Frankie had to pick up three more watermelons
from his farmer friend Mr.Parks then he would
make his way to his final stop, Snortleville.

Frankie gently placed three more watermelons in
his cart, said his far wells, and chugged away
heading toward Snortleville.
Or so he thought. The gentle rain turned into a
down pour however Frankie was determined to
deliver the watermelons to Snortleville.
Frankie could barely see through the rain and the
heavy winds were making him rock back and forth.

Frankie rocked left, then right, then left again and
took a harsh fall off the train tracks! His precious
watermelons were rolling all over the place,
smashed and destroyed.
Tears running down his face, Frankie began to cry.
"Everyone will think I'm a horrible train now"
murmured Frankie. He tried to rock himself upright
but, with no luck and the winds still gusting, failed.

After being stuck sideways for awhile, Frankie
looked at his watch. The time was nearing eight
o'clock.
Frankie soon after saw a bright light in the distance
through the fog. It seemed that the rain was
slowing down. A pink train approached Frankie.
This pretty train was his friend Samantha.
Samantha came looking for Frankie as soon as the
storm began to die down. Samantha gently helped
Frankie back onto the tracks.
