Today is an exciting but scary day for Jeanne. She is nervous about her first day at a new school. Jeanne and her family moved to Sanford, Florida because her dad was offered a great promotion. 

Jeanne's mother comes into her room and asks, "Are you ready for school, dear?" Jeanne tells her mother that she is nervous about starting a new school halfway through the school year. Making new friends can be hard sometimes. "Just be yourself, honey, and everyone will like you," said mom. 

Jeanne arrives at school and walks into her new classroom. As she enters the room, she can feel all eyes are on her. The teacher, Mrs. Bowser, welcomes Jeanne into the classroom and invites the other students to greet her. "Class let's take a moment to welcome our new friend Jeanne" said Mrs. Bowser. 

It was time for recess, and Mrs. Bowser took her class outside. As soon as they went outside Jeanne's classmate Nancy ran up to Jeanne and started calling her names and told other students not to play with her because she was the new girl.
