My name is Zoe and I’m five.   It’s the 

first day of spring so I’m getting ready to 

help my Mom, Dad and sister in our garden.  

Spring is my favorite season because I love 

to see the different colors of flowers, fruits 

and vegetables like in a rainbow.   There are 

lots of colors in a rainbow that you also see in a 

garden.  

My Mom’s favorite color is red, 

like roses, strawberries and 

tomatoes.

Spring makes me think of yellow.  

Lots of things are yellow.   We 

will be planting yellow flowers like 

daffodils and sunflowers.  

My Dad’s favorite color is green.  

There are lots of vegetables 

that are green.   Can you name a 

few?   I like lettuce and 

cucumbers, but my favorite 

vegetable is string beans.

My sister Madison’s favorite color 

is purple.   She says that purple is 

the color of royalty.   Madison will be 

planting lilacs and pansies.  

Sometimes the flowers can attract 

bees, so my Mom says to be very 

careful!
