CHAPTER 1
Jack
BANG! The back door slammed shut behind him as Jack walked down the steps. Jack was a young eight year old boy, who loved horses and ponies.
Jack, his mom, and dad had just moved from the big city to this small white farmhouse. Since the house was in the country, there was a lot of grass and trees. When you looked outside all you could see was the green hills going on and on.
Jack was a tall boy who had dark eyes and long black hair and wore blue glasses. He had a black, white, and brownish pet dog named Buster and a gray cat named Bella. Jack wished he had a whole herd of ponies.
Jack loved nature, and he loved to sit outside and look at the trees and the flowers moving in the wind.

One day in fall, Jack told his mom he was going for a walk. His mom said it was ok as long as he was back for supper. So Jack set off.
As Jack walked, he noticed all the brightly colored leaves as they fell from the trees. All of a sudden, the forest ended and before him Jack saw the most beautiful field with green grass that went on forever. "Wow!" Jack said.
Suddenly, Jack heard a snort, then a neigh. Jack whipped around. He could not believe what he saw. A herd of wild horses were right there in front of him. They were so beautiful. All Jack could do was stare in awe.
CHAPTER 2
The Ponies
"Wow!" Jack said as he looked at the horses grazing in the grass. He didn't know if he should go back home, or stay and watch the horses. Jack decided to stay until it got dark.
Jack sat down on a rock, and watched the horses and ponies. He noticed that one horse had a baby next to her. It looked as if the baby had just been born because he was wobbly on his feet.
The mother of the little foal was black and white, but her foal was all brown except for a few white spots on his body. Jack thought he was very cute.

All of a sudden, Jack heard a noise. He turned around and screamed! A big black horse was running right towards him.
When it was only a few feet away from him, the horse slid to a stop. Grass and dirt went every where. Jack gasped and fell down as the horse reared up and neighed.
That's when Jack noticed how dark the sky was, and he heard thunder and saw lighting in the distance. A big storm was coming. Jack needed to get home.
Chapter 3
The Storm
All of a sudden, the herd of horses started running. They were running towards the woods with the black horse in the lead. In a few seconds, the horses were gone.
Lighting flashed and it started to pour. Jack was scared and he didn't know how to get home. He was lost.
He saw something moving in the distance and thought it might be somebody here to save him, so he started to walk towards whatever was moving.
Soon, Jack came to the spot where he last saw the movement. But there was nothing there. That's when he noticed that in front of him was the forest that he had come out of. And on the other side was a bright light.
Jack started walking into the forest. It was dark and raining, and Jack was cold, but he kept walking.
Suddenly, Jack heard a sound. It sounded like someone walking in the leaves. Jack stopped. He turned around. Then, he heard a snort and saw something come out of the shadows. Jack screamed.
